“He was so off base” – Dominick Reyes demands accountability from Daniel Cormier after UFC 333

This post was originally published on this site.

Dominick Reyes had strongly criticized Daniel Cormier’s commentary during his UFC 333 victory over Azamat Murzakanov. He questioned the former two-division champion’s preparation and perceived bias.

Reyes said he watched the fight back at the airport and was frustrated by several of Cormier’s observations. According to Reyes, the commentary didn’t accurately reflect what was happening inside the cage and suggested Cormier hadn’t done enough research before the broadcast.

The light heavyweight contender also took issue with what he viewed as a broader problem within UFC broadcasting. Reyes argued that commentators are rarely held accountable for their analysis, despite their role in shaping how fighters and performances are perceived.

“I watched the fight at the airport, and I was like, dude, what are you talking about, man? He was so off base on so many different things. You didn’t do any research, and now you’re just kind of talking, man. It’s just the fact that you’re ill-prepared, and you have a tendency to be a little biased. It’s color commentary. It’s not just talking about meat pies during the fight. The only people in the whole UFC that are never held accountable are the announcers. So it’s time.”

The criticism comes after Reyes stopped Murzakanov by first-round knockout at UFC 333. The victory extended Reyes’ impressive run and further strengthened his position in the light heavyweight division.

Dominick Reyes backs Dominick Cruz as UFC’s best commentator while calling for higher standards

Dominick Reyes has singled out Dominick Cruz as the best commentator in the UFC while maintaining his criticism of Daniel Cormier following UFC 333.

Reyes praised Cruz for his analysis and also highlighted the work of Jon Anik, Paul Felder and Laura Sanko. He included Cormier among the commentators he rates highly.

However, Reyes believes Cormier can improve his preparation and approach when analyzing fights. In the aforementioned conversation with Ariel Helwani, he said:

“I think Dom Cruz is the best. I think Anik is really, really good. I like Paul Felder a lot. Laura Sanko is amazing. I like DC too. I think he’s extremely well-spoken, man. He’s got a silver tongue. He gets fans in there. I think he’s really good at what he does. He just needs to do better. That’s it. They’re all really good, but you could do better. Just don’t be biased, man, and be real. Realize these are our lives. You can’t just say things willy-nilly about us out here.”
