A two-time WWE Divas Champion recently discussed her future as an in-ring competitor. The veteran said she would never wrestle again due to a significant reason.
The name being discussed is Melina. She worked for the sports entertainment juggernaut from 2004 to 2011. During the run, she won the Divas Championship twice and the Women’s Title three times. Since 2019, the 47-year-old has been making sporadic appearances on the company’s programming.
Thanks for the submission!
After a nearly three-year absence, Melina returned to the ring on the independent circuit in May 2025. The WWE veteran’s last match took place in July this year. In a recent Q&A session on TikTok, the former Divas Champion revealed that she no longer had the “hunger” to lace up her wrestling boots. Melina didn’t wish to disappoint her fans by potentially returning to the squared circle.
“I’m not going to go back to the ring. Everybody keeps asking me that, I’m like, no, no, [laughter] no. I love to watch, I love to, um, just be around it now. I think those days is just different, I don’t have the hunger, and you need the hunger, you need that because you see it. So when you watch your your favorite wrestlers now wrestling, if they don’t (…) they have that hunger, that’s what makes it even better to watch. So I don’t have that, so I’d disappoint you guys, and I don’t want to do that. I like talk,” Melina said.
A Former WWE Divas Champion Will Retire in 2027
WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella is making waves as a heel on SmackDown. Nikki was set to embark on a tag team run alongside Brie Bella at the start of the year before she got injured. Following The Fearless One’s comeback, Brie unfortunately got hurt at this year’s SummerSlam.
The former WWE Divas Champion recently concluded a feud with Paige. Nikki also set her sights on Chelsea Green’s Women’s Championship. After weeks of heated verbal altercations, the two faced off on this week’s SmackDown. The Hall of Famer shockingly failed to defeat Green.
On an episode of The Nikki & Brie Show in July, the SmackDown Superstar revealed that she planned to retire from in-ring action at the end of 2027.
“You know, I’m coming close to the end. Like, and I know I’ve talked about this, but I am. Like, and I’m very great with that. Like, you know, year and a half, like whatever it is, the end of 2027,” Nikki said. [H/T: Ringside News]
