New Zealand vs India 2026 Highlights: 3 moments that generated buzz among fans in NZ vs IND 4th T20I ft. Mayank Yadav

A scintillating 107 off 49 balls from Glenn Phillips powered New Zealand to a big 87-run win over India at Eden Park, Auckland, on Friday, in the fourth T20I of the ongoing five-match series. It was a consolation win for the Black Caps, with India already pocketing the series by winning the first three fixtures.

New Zealand posted 259/7 in 20 overs after being put in to bat first, registering the highest-ever T20I total against India. Apart from Phillips’ stunning century, Michael Bracewell chipped in with an impactful 65 off 25 balls.

Mayank Yadav took three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Nitish Reddy, and Axar Patel picked up one wicket each. In response to the daunting score, India finished 172/9 after 20 overs.

Tilak Varma (35 off 35) and Naman Dhir (28 off 13) were the top run-scorers for the visitors. Jacob Duffy was the pick of the bowlers, recording excellent figures of 4/23 in four overs.

Here, we take a look at three moments from the lopsided clash that generated a buzz among the fans.

#3 Mayank Yadav ends Daryl Mitchell’s blazing cameo with a 143 kph yorker

Daryl Mitchell came out all guns blazing with the bat, taking just nine balls for his 24. His knock ended courtesy of a 143 kph thunderbolt from Mayank Yadav in the third over.

The New Zealand batter cleared his front leg to attempt a lofted shot against the yorker. However, he failed to connect and was struck on the back pad. The umpire raised his finger, and he was out LBW.

Mitchell went for the DRS, but the decision was upheld as replays showed no contact with the bat and three reds on ball-tracking. Watch the video here:

#2 Daryl Mitchell and Nathan Smith take stunning tag-team catch to dismiss Naman Dhir

Naman Dhir gave India some hope with his quick-fire 28 off 13 balls. However, the batting all-rounder’s stay at the crease was cut short by a terrific tag-team catch in the deep.

The batter mistimed a big hit on the leg side off Jacob Duffy in the 12th over. Daryl Mitchell sprinted to his right from long-on and took a well-judged catch. He tossed the ball to the converging Nathan Smith, realizing the momentum would take him over the ropes.

Smith had to put in a full-stretch dive to reach the ball and completed the relay catch. Watch the video here:

#1 Glenn Phillips hammers Nitish Reddy for four sixes in an over to put India under pressure

Glenn Phillips took Nitish Reddy to the cleaners in the 16th over, putting the hosts in a commanding position at the back end of the innings. The batter came on strike on the second ball and started with a four on the leg side off a waist-high no-ball.

He continued the attack after the free-hit, smashing four consecutive sixes to make it a 32-run over. Watch the video here:
