Everything we know about GTA Online progress: Why it won’t carry over to GTA 6
No support for cross-title progression
As with earlier GTA games, Rockstar has always started the online progress of a new title with a clean slate. Therefore, it is safe to assume your GTA Online progress will follow the same norm, which is further supported by the lack of any official announcements addressing changes to this system.

GTA 6 Online multiplayer not arriving with game launch
Additionally, another noteworthy point is that GTA 6 launches in offline mode first. This means that from November 19, 2026, the latest Rockstar title will only be playable in single-player offline mode. Gamers will have to wait for multiplayer features to launch some time later in early or mid-2027.

Currency inflation
Lastly, GTA Online incorporates in-game currency that can be earned via gameplay or purchased with premium currency. A fresh start for new online player careers ensures that the currency economy for GTA 6 is fair at launch.
