George Pickens played 42 offensive snaps in Sunday’s 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals, a 57% share that trailed CeeDee Lamb (56) and Ryan Flournoy (50). He caught two passes for 48 yards on four targets.
Late in the fourth quarter, with one first down enough to run out the clock, he did not play a snap on the three-play series. NFL analyst Tom Downey counted Pickens and Lamb together for about 35 snaps (48.6%), the first time the pair has been under 50% in a game both finished.
Thanks for the submission!

NFL fans ripped Schottenheimer on X. Cowboys fan RJ Ochoa said,
“Zero defense for not having Pickens involved more. It is actively sabotaging the team.”
Another fan wrote, “Fireable offense.”
One X user tweeted, “Only 4 targets to GP too. Idiotic.”
“That’s what Elite playcallers do man, they take their best offensive weapons off the field,” mocked another.
One more fan said, “Fireable Facts”
“Because he’s not a good coach! He also runs 1 man routes that go nowhere,” commented another.
The staff’s stated reason for limiting Pickens is blocking. Schottenheimer said on October 22 that Pickens “needs to understand that he impacts us in the running game as well,” and his snaps fell to 41 in Philadelphia the next week.
Against Arizona, Javonte Williams averaged 2.3 yards on 24 carries and the trade-off bought little. Pickens lined up in the slot twice, according to Pro Football Focus, and went in motion zero times.
Michael Irvin slams Brian Schottenheimer after Cowboys loss to Cardinals
On ESPN’s First Take on Monday, Michael Irvin went past the play calling. Pressed by Stephen A. Smith to back a bet that an outsider could fix the Cowboys, he went further.
“There is no worse that you can be than they are right now,” Irvin said. “There is no such thing as lower than this, or worse than this… They are the worst. So anybody, anybody, my dead mom can coach them better.”
Smith had spent the segment on Brian Schottenheimer’s résumé, calling him a coordinator who wasn’t calling plays when he got the job, needling him over his earlier “great coach” comment and urging Jerry Jones to hire Rex Ryan.
Meanwhile, owner Jerry Jones has made it clear after yesterday’s game that he’s not looking for a midseason coaching change.
