Barcelona fans are full of praise for Raphinha after his brace against Aston Villa. The Brazilian played a key role in the Catalan side’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League win at home.
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring for Hansi Flick’s side in the seventh minute, and that was the only goal of the first half. They needed just seven minutes in the second half to double the lead, with Raphinha getting on the scoresheet.
Thanks for the submission!
The Brazilian doubled his tally and made it 3-0 for the Catalan side just 12 minutes later, enough to seal the win. The Barcelona fans are now confident that the winger is leading the race for the Ballon d’Or and posted:
Hansi Flick spoke about the win, saying it was important as they aim to win the UEFA Champions League this season. He said:
“This is always the case with a club like Barcelona. You’re always aiming to win the big titles, and Champions League is a big goal for us. We also want to win La Liga. We still have work to do, but the entire team was outstanding. We stayed close together, maintained great unity and defended brilliantly, especially in the space in front of our goalkeeper. It was a fantastic collective performance.”
Talking about Raphinha, the manager added:
“He’s a fantastic player, if he maintains his physical fitness, and perhaps returns from the Brazil national team in good physical condition, that would be absolutely fantastic for us and for him too, of course.”
Barcelona take on Atletico Madrid next in the league this weekend, before the players split for the international break.
Raphinha was not interested in talking about Barcelona win
Raphinha spoke about the tragic death of CD Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel earlier today, following a collision on the pitch. The Barcelona winger said that he was shaken by the news and said:
“Today, I don’t want to talk about football. I want to send strength to the family of Jesús de Miguel. May he rest in peace. It was very tough when we saw the news. It’s hard knowing that something like this could also happen to you. Today is not a good day to talk about football. I want to send his family strength, both from myself and from the club. Honestly, the news hit me very hard. I spoke to my wife this morning after finding out, and I was feeling really down. It wasn’t easy to process what had happened.”
Jesús de Miguel was just 30 years old, and collided with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono, who charged out to clear the ball near the half-line.
