“Anything for Josh Allen” “Want their boy to win”: NFL fans furious over refs’ “brutal call” to pull back Ravens TD

Josh Allen saw his name dominate the headlines in more ways than he would have liked. NFL analyst Warren Sharp did not need long to weigh in on a controversial referee call in the Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens Game on Sunday.

He tweeted about the moment early in the third quarter when a Derrick Henry touchdown for the Baltimore Ravens was called back on a holding penalty.

Thanks for the submission!

“NFL refs up to their antics again,” the football analyst posted on X during Sunday’s game at Highmark Stadium, saying the crew was “pulling TDs off the board for questionable calls.”

NFL fans quickly backed up his concern, and most landed on the same narrative: that Buffalo gets the benefit of the doubt because of Josh Allen.

One fan said, “Anything for Josh Allen. He needs all the help he can get.”

Another fan wrote, “The Bills and refs are what everyone thinks the Chiefs are. But people won’t admit it.”

One X user tweeted, “It’s the Bills, what do you expect. Just look it up, they always benefit from [] like this”

“Lmao whatever they can do for Josh Allen,” tweeted another.

One fan asked, “Crazy the hate towards Baltimore @NFL needs to be studied”

“Brutal call. They want their boy to win and not get embarrassed by a 3rd stringer,” commented another.

Josh Allen’s Bills won the game 36-10 against a depleted Ravens team that saw Lamar Jackson leave the game on the opening drive.

What the flag took off the board

Baltimore had just reached the Buffalo 5 when the flag arrived. The drive started at the Ravens’ own 31, came alive when Fagnano found Rashod Bateman for 22 yards on third-and-6, and picked up another 15 through a roughing-the-passer call. It covered 61 yards in eight plays.

Then Henry’s run across the goal line was wiped out by a holding penalty on left tackle Ronnie Stanley, and Baltimore settled for Tyler Loop’s 26-yard field goal that made it 16-10 with 11:28 left in the third.

The Bills needed six plays to answer. Allen hit Moore for 49 yards, Cook ran in from the 5, and the Ravens never threatened again.

Jackson’s return lasted a single play. Back after missing three games with a high ankle sprain, he dropped back on Baltimore’s first snap, tried to find Zay Flowers, and had his right hand strike the arm of Bills edge rusher Greg Rousseau on the follow-through.

He was ruled out with a thumb injury before the first quarter ended. Jesse Minter said afterward that Jackson needs surgery and will be placed on injured reserve, and that the injury could end his season.

It got worse for Baltimore. Tyler Huntley, who started the previous three games, hurt his right toe while being sacked and losing a fumble to close the Ravens’ fourth series. That left Joe Fagnano, an undrafted rookie out of Connecticut, to finish his NFL debut: 10 of 21 for 91 yards and an interception.

The numbers behind the scoreline were lopsided. Buffalo held Baltimore to 144 total yards while Allen went 21 of 34 for 289 yards with two passing touchdowns, one rushing score and one interception.

Dalton Kincaid’s 23-yard touchdown catch and DJ Moore’s 11-yarder came on consecutive fourth-quarter possessions, after James Cook had scored from 5 yards out. The Ravens are 4-4 and have lost three straight. The Bills are 6-1.
