Kirk Cousins accounted for four touchdowns in the Raiders’ 38-33 comeback win over the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon. The one that got replayed most did not involve a football at all.
After Cousins pushed over the goal line for a 1-yard score with 4:14 left in the third quarter, cutting New York’s lead to 30-28, the veteran quarterback did not simply hand the ball back.

To celebrate his touchdown, he hunched over, left arm flexed with a hand near his helmet, right arm cocked at roughly 45 degrees and swinging back and forth.

The fan comments did the rest, as most of them were confused about what the celebration resembled.

Cousins finished 19 of 26 for 247 yards and three touchdown passes, two of them to Brock Bowers, who caught seven for 92. The go-ahead throw was a 2-yarder to Jalen Nailor with 11:33 left that made it 35-30.

Las Vegas trailed 23-14 at halftime and by nine in the third quarter, having let the Jets score on each of their first six possessions.
Special teams supplied the earlier jolt: Dylan Laube returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, the first kickoff return score in the NFL this season and the first of his career. Jason Sanders kicked four field goals for New York, the last from 31 yards after Adonai Mitchell’s falling 47-yard catch, and Matt Gay answered from 53 in the final minute. Jeremy Chinn sealed it by intercepting Geno Smith’s heave at the edge of the end zone in the closing seconds.
Smith threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns, Braelon Allen ran for 147 and a score, and the Jets still lost a third straight game to fall to 2-6. “It’s an understatement to say that we’re all disappointed in the way this one ended with not getting a victory in this game,” coach Aaron Glenn told reporters.
Cousins addressed the dance in his postgame interview with FOX’s Megan Olivi, which the network billed as centered on his mid-game “wellness celly.” The impulse is not new. His celebrations have gone viral since the “You like that!” days in Washington and through the “Kirko Chains” videos in Minnesota.
Las Vegas (4-4) snapped a four-game skid and visits San Francisco next Sunday. The Jets travel to Kansas City.
