Fans have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to give their take on Manchester United midfielder Andrey Santos’ inclusion in the starting eleven to take on Chelsea in the Premier League.

Manchester United are in very poor form and are on an eight-game winless streak. Pressure on head coach Michael Carrick started to mount after their loss against Como in the Champions League. It was further compounded after their 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth.

Thanks for the submission!

Their hosts, Chelsea, are also in a rut. The Blues lost at home against Tottenham last weekend and then got eliminated from the Carabao Cup after a penalty shootout loss at the hands of Liverpool. Both teams will look to turn things around when they clash later today.

Senne Lammens starts in goal for Manchester United. Diogo Dalot and Leny Yoro are set to play as full-backs. Harry Maguire partners Lisandro Martínez in the centre of defence. Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba are set to play in a midfield pivot, with skipper Bruno Fernandes operating a bit higher up in the midfield.

Amad Diallo, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo make up the front three as Michael Carrick makes a few changes to his eleven that lost to Bournemouth.

Kobbie Mainoo returns to the squad after an injury lay-off. Manchester United will also have Mason Mount, Shea Lacey, Youri Tielemans and Joshua Zirkzee to call upon from the bench.

Fans have taken to X to call out Andrey Santos’ inclusion in the starting lineup. The player who joined the Red Devils from Chelsea in the 2026 summer window has struggled of late. Fans were disappointed with his showing against Bournemouth and questioned Carrick’s decision to include him in the XI for the game at Stamford Bridge.

Some of the reactions are as follows:

The Red Devils are 16th in the league, just one point ahead of the relegation zone ahead of their clash against Chelsea.

Michael Carrick responds when asked if his Manchester United players can retrieve their confidence amid poor run

Speaking ahead of the Chelsea clash, Carrick was asked if his team can regain the lost confidence following their poor winless streak. He said via the club’s official website:

“Yeah, 100 per cent, that’s sport. That’s sport. Just because you lose a game or you have a bad day, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of a player’s career or an end of a team’s road or whatever that may be. It’s always what’s next and you can always make a difference.”
