Ashton Jeanty was on the bench at the start of the Las Vegas Raiders vs. New York Jets game. Mike Washington opened the game as the Raiders’ RB1.
Jeff Mueller believes that there’s more to the soft benching than an injury.
Thanks for the submission!
“Ashton Jeanty most likely benched for his comments about the Jets defense. Curious to see how long Klint Kubiak takes this punishment.” wrote the sports doctor.

According to Yahoo Sports, Ashton Jeanty had some interesting things to say about the Jets’ defense ahead of their Sunday showdown. He aimed a dig at the team’s tackling ability, noting that there are “a couple of guys that don’t really tackle.”
Jeanty chose to say no names, but his words were criticized by rival fans and commentators. Former Jets coach Rex Ryan had strong words for the Raiders star.
“We are not going to try to take you out of the game,” Ryan said on ESPN.
“Why? Because you are horrible. You’re about the worst draft pick of the last 20 years, I think, as a running back.
“You stink. You’re averaging 3.1 yards per carry. … It’s on you, my friend.”
Klint Kubiak has given Mike Washington early touches in Week 8. It remains to be seen how many snaps Jeanty will get against the Jets.
How has Ashton Jeanty performed this season?
Ashton Jeanty is having a mixed 2026 season. The Boise State product has amassed 106 carries, 328 rushing yards and a touchdown. He’s added three receiving TDs to his tally.
Jeanty hasn’t posted a 100-yard rushing game since the season opener against the Miami Dolphins. Since then, he’s failed to surpass the 50-yard mark four times (and in each of his last three games).
The Raiders started the season with three consecutive wins, but are now on a four-game losing streak. Jeanty’s lack of yards and touchdowns has come under scrutiny as he entered the league as one of the most hyped RB prospects in years.
The Raiders will need better performances from Jeanty and his teammates to break their slump. If not, they’ll miss the playoffs for the fifth straight season.
