The EFL Championship table is currently as tight as ever, and on Saturday, two closely-matched mid-table sides in Bristol City and Norwich City clash at Ashton Gate.
Both Bristol City and Norwich City are on the same number of points right now, with the home side sitting in 15th, three places below Norwich thanks to the Canaries‘ superior goal difference.
Thanks for the submission!
So can Bristol City leapfrog Norwich this weekend or will the away side pick up a win?
Bristol City vs Norwich City Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Norwich City came away with all three points in their last visit to Ashton Gate, winning 2-4 in April. In fact, they have managed to win in four of their last six visits to Bristol dating back to October 2020.
- Bristol City’s most recent game saw them fall to a home defeat at the hands of Wolves. While there’s no shame in losing to the Midlands side, who are currently 2nd in the table, the Robins are on a poor run of form. They have only won one of their last six league games.
- Norwich City, meanwhile, are coming into this game on their best run of the season so far, as they’ve won their last three games in a row. Their most recent victory was a dominant one, as they thrashed struggling Derby County 0-4 at Pride Park.
- Curiously, Norwich have not yet drawn a match this season, having won six and lost eight of their opening 14 matches. They are, in fact, the only EFL Championship club who have not seen a game end level this season.
- Bristol City’s form at Ashton Gate is a real cause for concern right now. The Robins have only won twice at home thus far this season, with their last win there coming over Watford on September 18th. They have lost five matches at home, and have only scored four goals there, too.
Bristol City vs Norwich City Prediction
While these two sides currently sit on the same number of points, it’s fair to say that Norwich have more momentum coming into this game.
Not only did they thump Derby, but they’ve also won three matches in a row. Bristol City, meanwhile, would’ve seen their confidence damaged by their defeat to Wolves this week, as they led until the last eight minutes of normal time.
The EFL Championship is hard to predict, so to see Bristol City win here wouldn’t be a huge shock, but the safe bet is an away win.
Prediction: Bristol City 1-2 Norwich City
