Myles Garrett’s absence will continue into Week 8, as head coach Sean McVay confirmed that the Los Angeles Rams defensive end will miss Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Garrett has been sidelined since suffering a knee issue that required surgery following the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia. The Rams placed him on injured reserve, and although he became eligible to return in Week 6, he has not progressed enough to have his practice window opened.
Thanks for the submission!
The Rams will have 21 days to activate Garrett once he begins practicing. Otherwise, he will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

Fans on X were quick to react after learning that Garrett would miss another game, with some already expressing doubts about the Rams’ blockbuster move.
“Can’t believe the Browns fleeced the Rams like that,” one fan wrote.
“God, that’s looking like a terrible trade right now,” one fan said.
“Rams traded for Myles Garrett just for him to put up donuts in his first game & miss the following 7 weeks,” one added.
“The Rams sent Jared Verse and three future picks to Cleveland for a guy who’s played one game for them,” one fan commented.
“Browns robbed the Rams with no gun 😤,” one said.
“All that preseason hype and the Rams are a dumpster fire,” one added.
Myles Garrett‘s return remains at least a week away, but McVay reassured reporters on Wednesday that the star defender has not experienced a setback in his recovery.
Commanders clash in Week 9 marks Myles Garrett’s next chance to take the field
With Myles Garrett ruled out for another game, the Los Angeles Rams could target their Week 9 clash with the Washington Commanders for his return. Sean McVay confirmed Wednesday that the defensive star is not yet ready to play, and the team has not opened his practice window.
That leaves a potential comeback after Los Angeles’ Week 11 bye as another possibility, especially if Garrett is not cleared to resume practicing next week.
The Rams made a significant investment to acquire Garrett from the Cleveland Browns in June, trading Jared Verse along with a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-rounder and a 2029 third-rounder. However, Garrett managed no tackles in his Rams debut in September before his injury sidelined him, while the team has struggled to a 3-4 record.
The Rams will be eager to have the star pass rusher back as they look to revive their defensive pressure. They have registered 10 sacks so far, ranking 28th in sack rate and 18th in pressure rate, a notable drop from their 47-sack total in 2025.
