Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream defeated the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 on Thursday, forcing a Game 7 in the 2026 WNBA Finals. On social media, several fans discussed Reese’s continuous complaining to the officials.
On Thursday, a social media user shared a clip wherein Reese was complaining to an official after an alleged no-call. Near the end of the first half, the Dream star was backing down Valkyries players Kaitlyn Chen and Laeticia Amihere. Reese drove to the basket but missed the wide-open layup.
Reese then continued her conversation with the referee, raising her hands and shouting. As a result, she was late on defense, which allowed Tiffany Hayes to score on a 3-pointer.
Many social media users reacted to the X post, criticizing Reese’s continuous complaining. Some said her reaction warranted a technical foul, while one fan mentioned Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
“CC got crucified (for) complaining LOL,” one fan tweeted.
“She IS the WNBA. Although she acts like it’s the WWE,” another fan said.
“And I see a lot of other players get the d*** call,” a fan commented.
Here are other reactions:
“She’s not an athlete, she’s just tall,” a fan wrote.
“She travels on EVERY play,” another fan tweeted.
One fan shared a different clip wherein Reese was also seen complaining at the officials:
“Angel Reese yells and claps at the ref after not getting a call and doesn’t get a tech. I’ve seen other players get a tech for much less.”
Reese did not receive a technical foul in Game 6 but recorded five personal fouls. She finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and six turnovers on 5-for-18 shooting, including 2-for-8 from the 3-point range.
Angel Reese says the Dream got their ‘swagger’ back
In her postgame media availability, Angel Reese was asked about the Atlanta Dream’s mindset as they faced elimination coming into Game 6 on Thursday at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
“You can definitely tell we got our swagger back,” Reese said. “Shout out to the crowd being able to come here at 12:30 on a Thursday, and so many things going on in the world, from school to work to everything else. And we’re just super thankful. We fed off their energy.”
Reese also praised her teammates Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, who finished with 23 and 21 points, respectively.
The do-or-die Game 7 of the 2026 WNBA Finals will be on Saturday at Chase Center in San Francisco. The match marks the first Game 7 in WNBA Finals history.
