CM Punk should win a major WWE title for the first time in his career, according to a Hall of Famer.
The Second City Saint is set to challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship on the special Wednesday-night episode of NXT on November 4. After Waller retained his title against Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc, the show’s host, Danhausen, brought a message from Punk, who announced that he will be challenging The Aussie Icon for the NXT Title on Wednesday.

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has shared his thoughts on who should win the upcoming title match between Waller and Punk. Speaking on Busted Open After Dark, Bully weighed in on both possible outcomes.
He claimed that if Waller defeats Punk clean to retain the title, it would not hurt The Second City Saint and could elevate the NXT Championship.
“I think CM Punk is as teflon as teflon gets. I think CM Punk can do the job right in the middle and it wouldn’t hurt him a bit, and it would do wonders for Grayson Waller. It would do wonders for that championship.”
However, Bully liked the second possible outcome even more. The WWE Hall of Famer said that if The Best in the World won the developmental brand’s title, it would generate plenty of buzz and give the title more credibility.
“CM Punk defeating Grayson Waller might be an even better choice, because if CM Punk were to have the NXT Championship, think of what that would do for the NXT Championship. Think of the level of credibility. Think about the world talking about CM Punk being the NXT Champion.”
Another reason why he liked the idea of CM Punk dethroning Grayson Waller as NXT Champion was the possibility of a rematch taking place at Wrestlepalooza, which will take place in Waller’s home country, Australia.
“And here’s another reason why I like it: where’s Wrestlepalooza? So if Punk defeats Waller, I guarantee you a rematch in Australia at Wrestlepalooza.”
It remains to be seen whether Punk can add the NXT Title to his WWE resume.
CM Punk has another major match on WWE SmackDown
After challenging Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship on Wednesday, CM Punk will head to SmackDown to compete in a No Holds Barred Match against Kevin Owens.
The two men have been at odds for months and will look to settle their issues on the blue brand’s show.
