The Stilled Saw
To start this quest, simply go to any notice board to find a poster about the Timberham Sawmill being put up for lease by House Alfonso. This can be done in the city of Hernand or even in the port town of Vellua that you will unlock for shipbuilding. Simply walk up to the notice board, then take and read the poster.
The Saw Turns Again

Bizarrely, this next objective will not mark the location on the map. Thankfully, Timberham Sawmill is one of the first such worksites you will encounter in Crimson Desert’s early hours, as it lies just to the west of Hernand City. Once there, open the menu, highlight the location on the map, and press Details.
Go to the Facilities tab here, which will let you lease the Sawmill for 15,000 Camp Funds. Note that this facility has a daily upkeep cost of 20,000 Camp Funds, so ensure you have a decent backup of money before you even attempt this mechanic. Next, you will be shown the facility management tutorial.

Simply put, you must set up the structure and installables, manage staff hired with the right skill sets, and look after sales to secure profits to keep the lights on and the shop running. Let’s explain each option in the next menu in detail:
- Open Shop: Allows opening or closing the facility to business.
- Manage Goods: Check what goods are for sale and their selling price.
- Manage Staff: Assign staff here. Each staff member will have a daily wage cost as well.
- Place Installables: Furnish your facility for selling goods. An installable’s recipe must be known before it can be placed, and placing it costs Camp Provisions. Installable skills count towards the Installable Score, which in turn affects the facility’s tier.
First, you must station 2 Carpenters and 1 Sawyer under the Manage Staff tab, so find the comrades from your camp that fit the role. Any eligible characters will have their relevant skill highlighted in gold, making it easy for you to track. Next, head to Place Installables, where you can check the Installables button to find furnishable items.
You do not need to add anything beyond what’s already here for now. Let the operations continue, and slowly you will have new customers. They will demand a specific item and wait for a while, after which they will leave if they do not get what they need in time.
As satisfied customers leave with their purchased goods, your facility’s popularity will increase. Once your popularity reaches level 1, you will obtain new rewards. You will obtain the following rewards as you increase the Popularity Level of the Sawmill:
- Level 1: Courtesy of Waiting.
- Level 2: Building with Planks.
- Level 3: Dividing Spaces with Interior Doors, Architect’s Leather Gloves.
- Level 4: Wooden Gerbera Hanging Planter (Blueprint), A Carpenter’s Guide to Sawmill Expansion.
- Level 5: Woodworking Artisan’s Seal.
Once you cross Level 1, you can set up another Crude Timber Box, Crude Wooden Stand, and Crude Workstation to facilitate creating more goods faster. You will also get the Courtesy of Waiting book, which you must read to unlock the Standing Table needed to progress to Popularity Level 2. Place a couple of tables to allow weary customers to rest.
Keep your selling prices in the green, ensure you meet customer needs efficiently, and you will level up in no time. At Popularity Level 2, you can introduce an additional Carpenter, Sawyer, and a selling item each. You will also obtain the Building with Planks book, which you will need to be able to place a Crude Plank Workbench and Crude Plank Box.
Sometimes, a special customer may arrive, highlighted by a gold frame. Meeting their needs provides facility bonuses for a while, so be on the lookout. Reaching Popularity Level 3 will earn you Architect’s Leather Gloves as well as the Dividing Spaces with Interior Doors book. Note that your facility will operate even when you’re away, earning you money and Popularity.
This wraps up the Renewed Vitality quest in Crimson Desert Charting the Unknown. Be on the lookout for more facilities to lease and run across Pywel so you have even more means of income to spend.
