“I should have”- 42-year old star on whether he should have defeated Roman Reigns for WWE World Title

A 42 year old star has reflected on whether he should have defeated Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship. He admitted he should have but that circumstances were different.

The star in question is none other than Sami Zayn. Zayn is the current Undisputed WWE Champion and he had to go through a lot of hardships to get to where he is at right now. In 2023, he was a part of the Bloodline and later turned on Roman Reigns. That resulted in a match between the two at Elimination Chamber in 2023 which Zayn lost.

He has now given his take on whether he should have defeated Roman in that match. Zayn was a guest on Insight with Chris Van Vliet when he said:

“At the time, I thought there was a case to be made for it, but going back to the domino effect thing, I don’t know. I really don’t know. I don’t think it’s ludicrous to say I should have. If you were watching at that time, I think anybody could have made that argument. But it was just, again, timing, and Cody was also red hot at that time, and they were building to something. Then it leads to Cody the next year, and then it’s more gratifying. Whatever it is, just yeah, I don’t know. Could, should, would- would it have worked? I think so. But who’s to say?” [H/T PWMania]

Sami Zayn opens up on his time with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline

When Sami Zayn was a part of the Bloodline, it was arguably the best time he has had during his WWE career so far.

In the same interview with Chris Van Vliet, Sami also shed light on his time with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline and said it was ridiculous how it all came together.

“Well, that’s kind of what makes it work from the jump. That was in the conception of the idea; it’s so ridiculous, that’s part of the appeal of it. My intent in the beginning was more to be kind of like on the periphery, [but] it evolved, and that’s part of the beauty of it,” he said.

Sami Zayn will take on Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel, which is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next month.
