Major update on two-time WWE World Champion – Report

WWE is around a week away from Crown Jewel, which is moving to a new location in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, a new report sheds light on the status of a two-time Women’s World Champion.

Earlier this year, Stephanie Vaquer went on hiatus from WWE after losing the Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan at WrestleMania 42. La Primera returned to the weekly product in August and entered the main event scene to reclaim what she lost at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Last month, Stephanie Vaquer became a two-time Women’s World Champion at a live event in Chile. Sadly, she lost the title back to Liv Morgan at Money in the Bank in New Orleans in a Triple Threat match. However, she hasn’t competed on television yet.

According to a previous report, Vaquer won’t be on the weekly product for a while as she’s dealing with an illness. Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed she’s dealing with an illness, and it’s not as serious as one might expect.

The insider said she will be gone for a while, and there’s no timetable for her return. It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Stephanie Vaquer, and only time will tell when La Primera returns to the weekly product.

Stephanie Vaquer made history on WWE NXT

In 2024, Stephanie Vaquer started her journey in the Stamford-based promotion when she appeared on the developmental brand. In the coming months, she won the NXT Women’s North American Championship and ultimately put the title on the line against Giulia for both championships.

Last year, she made history, becoming the first woman to hold both singles titles in the women’s division. However, the reign as double champion ended when she vacated the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Later, she lost the NXT Championship to Jacy Jayne and moved to Monday Night RAW.

A few months later, she won a Battle Royal at Evolution in Atlanta and eventually won the vacant Women’s World Championship in a match against IYO SKY at WWE Wrestlepalooza. Later, she defeated Tiffany Stratton to win the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship in Perth, Australia.
