A WWE legend recently talked about a particular moment while he was still working for AEW, which may have played a part in his departure. He claimed that he was a tad overlooked by the talent.
During his time with the Tony Khan-led promotion, Arn Anderson was mostly known as the manager of Cody Rhodes and the Nightmare. He was with the company till 2024. Anderson has made a handful of appearances for WWE since, but he isn’t signed with any major promotion.
Former WWE writer and producer Robert Karpeles recently spoke about the veteran during the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast. He talked about being backstage for AEW Dynamite one time and getting to talk to Anderson. The legend revealed that he did not do much backstage, as after doing promo work, he had nothing else to do, and none of the talent reached out to him for advice.
“It baffled me when I was backstage at Dynamite once, and I was talking to Arn Anderson when he was there, and I was like, ‘So, Arn, you were our lead agent. Are you doing a lot of agenting here?’ He goes, ‘Nope. I just sit here. I go out and do my one promo, and then I just sit, and nobody comes and talks to me.’” [H/T RSN]
Arn Anderson revealed what really led to his AEW departure
A few months ago, during his ARN Show podcast, Arn Anderson revealed that he was brought into AEW to work with both Tully Blanchard and Cody Rhodes. But after both of them left the company, he felt that this left nothing for him to do. Even when they tried pairing him with Wardlow, it just did not work out the same.
“I’ve got to be honest with you. I was brought in to be Tully’s trainer, manager, force of reason — whatever you want to call me. And when he left, he kind of took the angle with him. … But the angle with Cody — he took it with him, and it was just a matter of time because, you know, I did a couple of shows with … what’s the guy that was the big jacked-up guy? Wardlow. And, you know, it was just kind of out of left field, out of nowhere,” he said. [H/T – Ringside News]
Arn Anderson was still able to leave a lasting impression with AEW, as his work with Cody Rhodes during those early years is forever etched in the company’s history.
