India hammered New Zealand by six wickets in the third T20I in Wellington on Tuesday, October 27. With the win, the Men in Blue took a 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
India once again won the toss and opted to field first, after which they restricted the hosts to a score below 200 despite Daryl Mitchell’s best efforts. The openers sealed the game for Shreyas Iyer and Co., hammering nearly 120 runs in the powerplay to destroy the Black Caps’ hopes of keeping the series alive.
On that note, here are India’s player ratings from the third T20I against New Zealand.
NZ vs IND 2026: New openers fire as India cruise past New Zealand’s total
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: 8/10
Sooryavanshi wasn’t at his fluent best, but he showcased his incredible array of shots on both sides of the wicket. It’s not often that you see him play second fiddle, but needless to say, he did so at a strike rate well above 200. What a talent he is.
Abhishek Sharma: 10/10
Abhishek played a blinding innings, racing away to a spectacular century. The opening batter played some gorgeous lofted drives and was severe on any bowling type he faced.
Sanju Samson: 4/10
Demoted to No. 3, Samson hit a couple of boundaries before being castled when the chase was almost complete.
Tilak Varma: 5/10
Tilak didn’t have much to do and receives a standard rating.
Shreyas Iyer: 3/10
Shreyas consumed 10 balls of his five runs and hit a very loose delivery straight to a fielder in the deep. The Indian captain hasn’t been convincing so far.
Naman Dhir: 7/10
Dhir took an excellent catch and hit the winning runs.
Axar Patel: 6/10
Axar was hit for a few runs by Daryl Mitchell and company, but on the whole, he did okay. Playing as the sole spinner, he got Glenn Phillips out and kept his economy rate in single digits.
Nitish Kumar Reddy: 6/10
Reddy’s four overs were decent once again. Although the odd boundary towards the end of the over spoiled his figures, he did well with his yorker attempts and managed to dismiss the dangerous Finn Allen.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 5.5/10
Bhuvneshwar’s international comeback hasn’t seen him pick up a wicket yet. It was a marginally better performance this time around as he went for 40 runs.
Arshdeep Singh: 6.5/10
Arshdeep finished as India’s most economical bowler on the night. He used wide yorkers well at the death, and his three overs in the powerplay were enough to ensure that New Zealand didn’t get off to a start similar to India’s.
Prince Yadav: 4/10
Prince didn’t have the best outing as he finished as India’s most expensive bowler. He lost his radar at times and bowled just three dot balls over the course of his four overs.
