Former WWE United States Champion Ilja Dragunov recently joined AEW, and he will seemingly not be title-less for long. The 33-year-old is one of the most dominant competitors in the modern wrestling landscape. He did not feature on Blood & Guts, but he recently gave a personal update.
AEW held Blood & Guts in Jacksonville, Florida, this week. The TV special was well received by fans. However, many were disappointed that the Mad Dragon did not feature or have a match at the show. Nevertheless, Dragunov shared a personal update on X.
Ilja Dragunov shared a few pictures of his daily life on X. He even dropped some words of wisdom.
“If you want to get to know someone, find out what makes them angry,” he wrote.
Dragunov was under WWE’s banner from 2019 to 2026. He achieved moderate success in the Stamford-based company. Hopefully, Tony Khan will book him better than Triple H.
Ilja Dragunov wants to participate in the AEW Continental Classic
Ilja Dragunov is hungry for glory. In a recent conversation with Arkady Aura and Lexy Nair, the Mad Dragon said that he wants to compete in the Continental Classic because of its toughness and intensity. However, he knows that the decision is not his to make.
“So this tournament represents mental toughness. Because as far as I remember, all these people went through injuries, through setbacks, through really memorable moments…this tournament is representing strength, resilience, and I feel like the landscape of AEW is about to change. Why? Because I am here. So if you talk about strength, about grit, and especially resilience and intensity, and something memorable and emotional to happen? It would be second-hand embarrassing to take away that chance for the people, for me to maybe not be there. But I’m not the person to make the decision,” he said.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Dragunov. He might be AEW World Champion sooner rather than later. Furthermore, he might re-join WWE someday. The company is currently preparing for Full Gear, and he might have a match at the upcoming show.
