The Pokemon TCG Pocket Dual Fusion set gave us Mega Tyranitar ex, a Darkness-type Stage 2 Pokemon card. While this Pokemon’s only move Crushing Rampage has an extremely high Energy cost, its damage output of 180 is well worth it. Since that is strong enough to KO most threats in the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta, it is worth considering this Pokemon for its raw power.
So, in this article, we will take a look at the best way to play a Mega Tyranitar ex deck.

Best Pokemon TCG Pocket Mega Tyranitar ex deck guide: Strategy breakdown
1) Mega Tyranitar ex
- HP: 240
- Move: Crushing Rampage
- Move Damage: 180
- Move Description: Discard the top 2 cards of your deck
- Move Energy Cost: 2 Darkness and 2 Colorless Energy
- Retreat Cost: 4 Energy
The strategy surrounding this card is to basically set up Mega Tyranitar ex on your Bench so that it can switch in and spam Crushing Rampage. The damage is enough to KO top tier threats like Mega Diancie ex, Hoopa ex, and even Mega Mewtwo X ex.
2) Hoopa ex
- HP: 150
- Move 1: Shadow Bullet
- Move 1 Damage: 30
- Move 1 Description: This attack also does 20 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon
- Move 2: Dynamite Punch
- Move 2 Damage: 100
- Move 2 Description: This Pokemon also does 20 damage to itself
- Retreat Cost: 2 Energy
Since Tyranitar ex needs time to set up, Hoopa ex should be used in the Active Spot until then. Use a Darkness Energy on it so that it can start spamming Shadow Bullet. This move also deals damage to a Pokemon on the opponent’s Bench, which will allow you to switch them in with Cyrus for an easy KO.
