Ever since NXT came into existence as a separate developmental brand, WWE has called up stars with standout performance to their main roster. Even this year, the company brought names like Oba Femi, Blake Monroe and Ricky Saints to the main roster. However, the company might be set to call up a match type this time instead of a superstar.
The Undisputed WWE Championship scene on SmackDown is heating up right now. Several stars are in line for a title shot and are yet to get their shot at Sami Zayn and the title. As per a recent Fightful report, the company might be planning to bring the Iron Survivor Challenge to the main roster. The match is a 25-minute match where two stars start in the ring while the other three enter at 5-minute intervals. The only way to win is to score the most falls before the time expires. A person who gets pinned or taps out has to stay in the penalty box for 90 seconds.
Thanks for the submission!
It was recently announced that NXT will have TLC as their December PLE this year, replacing Deadline and the Iron Survivor Challenge. The report stated that while this change might not have increased the chances of the match being brought to the main roster, it has been discussed in the past for main roster use. The report even stated that it could be used in current storylines like the stacked World title scene on SmackDown.
It will be interesting to see if the Stamford-based company will bring the Iron Survivor Challenge to the main roster.
