Rusev could be heading back to WWE television in a major role. According to a recent report, the Stamford-based promotion is planning to bring the Bulgarian Brute together with Ethan Page and Big Cass to form a new three-man stable.
The latest update comes from Self-Made Pro, which reportedly revealed on the Self-Made Session podcast that the Stamford-based promotion wants to make the group official immediately. If the plan moves forward, Rusev could have a clear direction once he returns to WWE programming.
Thanks for the submission!
“I can also tell you that you expect Rusev, Ethan Page, and Big Cass to be a formal stable immediately,” Self-Made Pro stated during the podcast.
This would be a notable development for the superstar, whose WWE plans were affected by an injury. The company originally wanted him to team with All Ego, but his absence forced WWE to find another partner.
Page eventually joined forces with Big Cass on the October 26 episode of RAW. The duo faced current Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable and Dragon Lee, picking up the victory after Page hit Lee with the Ego Plex.
However, the company could still have a place for Rusev in the bigger picture. Rather than simply pairing him with Page, the company may now be looking to turn the idea into a heel faction.
WWE’s Rusev makes progress after injury
Rusev’s last televised match took place on the July 27 episode of the red brand, where he faced Je’Von Evans. During the match, he reportedly landed awkwardly on his neck and experienced numbness in his hands.
Although the Bulgarian Brute finished the match, the incident kept him away from WWE television for nearly three months. His wife, CJ Perry (f.k.a. Lana), later explained that he was in considerable pain after the match.
Some positive news came in September when Perry confirmed he was medically cleared. He subsequently returned to the ring at the promotion’s live events in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 16 and 17.
He faced Joe Henry in a singles match before teaming with Page the following night. Although he did not win either match, his return was an encouraging sign.
