UPDATE: Major Name Expected To End 8-Year WWE Tenure After WrestleMania 43 – Report

A WWE name who has worked for the company is reportedly set to end his third tenure and retire from his current key role in the Stamford-based promotion.

According to a recent PWInsider report, Bruce Prichard, WWE’s Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent, is set to retire from the role after WrestleMania 43 next year.

The report also detailed Prichard’s departure, saying that while Bruce would end his tenure with the company, he would remain connected to the promotion as a consultant; however, he won’t live in Stamford, where WWE’s main office is located, and he won’t retain his regular job.

Bruce Prichard joined WWE in 1987 as an announcer and soon debuted as Brother Love, but the company released him in 1991. He was rehired a year later and worked closely with Vince McMahon as producer and writer.

However, his 16-year tenure with the promotion ended in 2008 when the company released him. After leaving, he worked in other major promotions, including TNA and MLW. In 2018, he returned to WWE and has been working with the TKO-owned brand ever since.

WWE official Bruce Prichard is set to undergo major surgery

In an episode of the recent 83 Weeks with Bruce Prichard, co-host Conrad Thompson disclosed that Prichard broke his neck in 1991 after The Ultimate Warrior attacked him. He learned about the injury recently, and now he is set to undergo surgery for it.

Here’s what he said:

“I don’t know that Bruce has revealed it, but Bruce has been dealing with a neck injury. It turns out that Bruce is going to have to have some surgery on that rascal, and he hadn’t been having the best quality of life recently. He’s on the mend, he’s doing rehab and all that jazz, but he’s hurting for certain. Do you remember way back when he was Brother Love and The Ultimate Warrior beat him up? He broke his neck, and he just found out recently. All these years later,” Bischoff said.

It will be interesting to see whether the rumors are true and Bruce Prichard actually retires, and if he does, who replaces him in the company.
