Angel Reese Says the Dream Has Their Swagger Back
Angel Reese and the Dream overcame a 3-2 deficit in Game 5 to force a Game 7. Reese thinks the team regained their swagger on Thursday and that everyone on the team understood what was at risk.
“You could definitely tell that we got our swagger back,” Reese said. “We wanted to make sure we maximized this opportunity. It’s win or go home right now. Everybody left everything they had out there. And that was what was important to us. We knew shots were going to fall.”
“My plan was to come out aggressive from the jump. My teammates were really on me to play my game, and they had my back. I got the shooters roll, but the biggest thing is we stayed locked in and stepped up to the challenge.”
The Dream had a players-only meeting ahead of Game 6, which helped them regain their confidence. The players were on the same page on both ends of the floor.
“Everybody came out super confident. Anybody that got in, the people that were on the floor, it was just an effort that you could see that they were the best,” she added.
Angel Reese also said she was proud of the team for stepping up and being aggressive. Even coach Karl Smesko credited the players for putting pressure on the Valkyries.
