TKO President Mark Shapiro has made an honest confession about possibly canceling WWE Crown Jewel. The company’s annual premium live event in Saudi Arabia has been put in jeopardy due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
While the promotion has said that the event will go ahead, an official announcement from Riyadh Season on social media confirmed that the PLE has been moved from the Riyadh Season Stadium, a purpose-built outdoor stadium.
Thanks for the submission!
Earlier this week, TKO, WWE’s parent company, held a company-wide town hall meeting where Mark Shapiro made it clear that the safety of everyone was paramount.
Now, POST Wrestling has shared further details from the meeting via an audio transcript of Shapiro’s comments. The TKO President noted that the company still has several goals it needs to accomplish for them to be successful as they close out 2026.
He then talked about facing the repercussions if any of TKO’s upcoming events in Saudi get canceled.
“We have a lot of investors and analysts out there across the Wall Street community that are nervous that we’ll be able to pull off the year without any of our events being canceled. You saw F1 and many events canceled given the global nature of our business. Well, so far, we’ve been lucky enough to not have any interruption. Can’t guarantee that, and again, if it happens, it will certainly have an impact on our year in a very negative way. But there’s not much we can do about that,” he said.
New location for WWE Crown Jewel revealed
After it was announced that Crown Jewel will be moved from the Riyadh Season Stadium, it left fans wondering where the show will be held. Later, it was reported that the PLE has been moved to Kingdom Arena, but now there is a clear confirmation.
According to the ticketing page for the show, the new location for Crown Jewel is Riyadh’s ANB Arena, also known as The Venue. It is an indoor stadium and will host the boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli on October 31.
WWE Crown Jewel has announced four matches on the card, including two bouts for the Crown Jewel Championship.
