Crown Jewel 2026 is already shaping up to be one of the most controversial events in the history of WWE. The situation in Saudi Arabia has been getting more and more concerning over the last few weeks. Amidst the ongoing tensions, WWE is taking action to reassure their talent about the safety precautions on the trip to Riyadh.
After the Houthis attacked the Riyadh airport a few weeks ago, Saudi Arabia and its surrounding nations have been on a high alert. The US Embassy has issued several security alerts and has asked its citizens to stay vigilant and even consider leaving the country. A lot of shows that were part of the Riyadh season got cancelled due to the ongoing tensions.
Thanks for the submission!
However, WWE is still scheduled to host their annual Crown Jewel event in Riyadh. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently reported that a lot of stars in the company have expressed their displeasure about travelling to Riyadh. The report stated that stars didn’t want to get booked on the premium live event due to the dangers but the company’s officials assured them that their safety will be the top priority during this trip. The Stamford-based company is set to take a very small crew to the show, without any stars who are not booked on the show.
The venue of the show was recently changed from a 25000 people capacity arena to an 8000 capacity one.
Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn to headline WWE Crown Jewel 2026
Over the last 2 years, the PLE has become the host for Champion versus Champion matches. World Champions from both RAW and SmackDown compete against each other with the winners earning a special Crown Jewel Championship. While this year’s event is set to feature some major matches, two of the biggest matches on the show are for the titular Championship.
WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green is set to face Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan for the Women’s title. While on the Men’s side, World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn are set to go head-to-head.
It will be interesting to see who will become the Crown Jewel Champions this year.
