Crimson Desert’s Charting the Unknown features many different mounts, but the Ocean Drifter may be the most unique. Unlike others, which are underwater creatures, this one’s a mechanical mount, so you don’t need to worry about taming it. However, you do need to find it, which can be a tedious task if you don’t know where to look.
Just like how the A.T.A.G. is one of the most fun mounts on land, Ocean Drifter may become your favorite underwater mount in Crimson Desert. The best part is that you don’t need to craft it, as it comes pre-built. Here’s how you can get it.
Where to find Ocean Drifter in Crimson Desert
As mentioned, a fully built Ocean Drifter is waiting for you to find it. However, it is in the new Ocean region, so before you start exploring the Great Ocean of Pywel, you’ll need the Charting the Unknown DLC. You’ll also need the Diving Suit because it’s underwater, and you need it to stay alive.
Once you’re set, head towards the Razanui Islands in the bottom-left corner of the ocean. From there, head a little west across the ocean towards underwater ruins. It’s hard to pinpoint the exact location since there are no landmarks around, but the image above should make it easy.

Follow the steps below after you reach the Razanui Islands:
- Use a ship or a flying mount, whichever you prefer, to reach the location above the ocean, then dive down.
- At around 50 meters, you’ll see a pyramid-shaped structure (Forgotten Ocean Ruins) surrounded by kelp.
- There are multiple turrets near the pyramid entrance that will start shooting as you get close. Simply swim past them, as they don’t have tracking projectiles.
Inside, you’ll find nothing except a monolith. That’s because you need to go to the second floor through the holes in the ceiling. Once there, you’ll find a Natural Pearl in one corner and a treasure chest in the other, which contains an Ancients’ Chest. Get them both and get out.
How to use Ocean Drifter in Crimson Desert

The Ancients’ Chest you just looted contains a fully built Ocean Drifter. Open the chest, and it will automatically register the mount, which you can summon like any other mount in Crimson Desert. However, you need to be at least 30 meters in water to use it.
Once summoned, you can use it underwater for as long as you want and even leave it to explore different areas. However, it has a one-hour cooldown after you surface or summon another mount. That said, it is one of the fastest mounts and can easily outrun sharks and many other creatures, making it perfect for underwater exploration.
