Overview
Net a Fish has you cast a net in the sea to see what you can reel in and store in your aquarium. The fishing process is largely automated, where the fish you get is determined through RNG. Once you catch a fish, you can place it in your aquarium, where it passively generates Cash.
You can then use Cash to purchase upgrades and new gear, which can help you get even more valuable fish. This lets you populate your aquarium quickly, giving you access to an assortment of fish that make money for you. The money they earn can be viewed on the counter at the bottom left.
Once you catch the required amount of fish and have the specified amount of Cash, you can undergo Rebirth to improve your Cash multiplier and get various unlockables. Continue to progress through the game to maximize the amount of Cash you earn and upgrade your assortment of tools to the maximum.

Gameplay features and tips
- Upgrades: The Upgrades menu lets you purchase a variety of items, sorted into Nets, Fishing, and Market tabs. You can buy additional fishing nets in the Nets tab, get stat boosts from the Fishing tab, and purchase passive abilities from the Market tab. Some of the items in this menu are locked behind a particular Rebirth level, making it important to reach the specified level beforehand.
- Skill Tree: Every time you perform a Rebirth, you gain three Skill Points, which can be invested into the Skill Tree for passive boosts. These are sorted into the Net, Luck, Fortune, and Crew & Dock trees, which can massively improve your overall fishing prowess. Be sure to use your Skill Points whenever you gain access to them.
- Fisherman: Fisherman is an NPC that occupies your dock. His job is to catch duplicates of the fish you already have, giving you easy access to the fish fusion system. This lets you create better variants of the fish you own, improving your Cash flow even further. You can upgrade the Fisherman using Cash to make him more efficient at this task.
- Spear Gun: The Spear Gun is a mounted device that you can use to catch high-tier fish. This device is required for catching the rarest fish in the game. As such, we recommend upgrading it as soon as possible. By default, the Spear Gun catches fish belonging to rarities above Common.
- Index rewards: Unlocking Index entries by catching fish lets you claim one-time-only rewards that include Cash and Mutation boosts. These rewards are a handy way to get additional resources, pushing you one step closer to the next Rebirth. Be sure to periodically check this menu and claim any freebies that you may have unlocked in the process.
- Bait: When using your net to fish, you can use Bait to get passive bonuses for a limited time. You can buy Bait from the Bait Shop, and you can purchase additional options once you reach the specified Rebirth level. Each Bait has a predetermined passive ability that makes it uniquely equipped to catch certain types of fish.
- Fish fusion: You can interact with the Fish Cooler at the dock to fuse fish duplicates. Once fused, the Cash earning rate of the fish in question increases, making it more valuable for your aquarium. The Fisherman NPC can help you achieve fish fusion more efficiently, so be sure to invest some Cash into upgrading him.
