A popular AEW star did the unthinkable by attacking a top official and throwing away his championship moment.
The aforementioned star is the Death Riders member, Gabe Kidd. He defended his IWGP Global Heavyweight title against Taichi in the main event of NJPW Power Struggle that took place at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall. The bout was an incredible showdown with both men delivering major in-ring performances. In the end, Kidd retained the title against Taichi, who delivered the Death Dog Driver as the match approached thirty minutes.
After the match, Gabe Kidd demanded that NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi wrap the IWGP World title around his waist. He did so, but Kidd shocked the audience by attacking Tanahashi and put an exclamation point on it by hitting him with a Drill-a-Holee piledriver. Yuya Ueura rushed to the ring to aid Tanahashi, and it became a 2-on-1 beatdown until AEW top star Jon Moxley ran to the ring for Kidd and left both NJPW stars beaten down. Gabe Kidd sent a warning to two AEW stars
Gabe Kidd’s allies, The Dogs (Clark Connors and David Finlay), betrayed him and The Death Riders and aligned with Jay White and his faction, now known as The Cut. In a fiery backstage promo on AEW Collision, Kidd called out his former cohorts and promised to end both of them and The Death Riders in the upcoming Blood & Guts match against The Cut.
I know two little snakes … that would like to do that. Ain’t that right? [claps] Clark and Finlay, I’ve to give you a round of applause boys coz that performance there last week, that was oscar winning, that was incredible, legendary. The whole time, I was thinking that you’re my dawg for life … but you two are nothing more than a couple of fake lil b*tches. You were there Clark, you too Fin, you were there when I was going mad on Redundo beach, you were there, you drove me to the hospital, you had to see they fall in your eyes and now this, you know how mad I am, you know how bad this gets, you know how dangerous I could be … we are already one man down, now we’re two … you know what that means, that means we’re gonna come at you and we’re gonna bite and we’re gonna rip every inch of flesh off your body, I’m gonna get you both and I’m gonna hang you with you intestines, I’m gonna end you. This is not over, until I say so.”
With the stage set for these two AEW factions to collide in one of the most gruesome matches, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious.
