CM Punk may have been the World Heavyweight Champion recently, but that has not stopped the company from burying him in a moment that has shocked the WWE Universe. Heading into Crown Jewel, the star may not be booked for a match, but this last weekend, he has found himself suffering a shock loss that no one saw coming when Chad Gable pinned him in a match at a house show.
As per a report by Fightful Select, there was mention of WWE trying to create viral moments. There was an attempt to make buzzworthy moments in live events so as to help fans have an interesting show where things don’t always work out as expected. The Halloween-themed matches at the recent events, as well as Chad Gable’s win over Punk, were apparently moments created for this very reason so that everyone there was taken by shock and it would go viral.
Gable and Punk faced each other despite both being babyfaces. The stars put on an excellent show, where Gable and Punk hit each other with every move under the sun, but it changed when they started to try roll-ups and pin each other. In the end, Gable got the sudden win over Punk. There was complete silence for a second before the arena erupted, as they were not ready for Punk to lose.
It seems that the loss and burial of the former World Heavyweight Champion was just another way to attract the crowds for future shows as well.
