The Dallas Cowboys appear to be on the verge of mutiny, at least if a very unusual event that transpired on Monday is any indication.
A day after the team suffered a 30-33 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals, The Athletic’s Jon Machota reported that he and his fellow media members had arrived at an empty locker room. Apparently, the players had held a meeting there before hastily leaving.
Thanks for the submission!

Fans immediately knew what it meant:
“Schotty has lost the locker room!” one concluded.
“Yeah, just fire him,” another demanded.
“The whole organization is a bunch of cowards,” one raged.
“Team is literally falling apart. Need coaching change asap,” another rued.
“There’s been some bad teams since 1996, but I don’t recall one this talented playing this awful,” one wondered.
“Aaaaanand that’s what happens when you preach ‘culture’ instead of winning games,” another warned.
The happening is just the latest in a tumultuous chain of events hounding the Cowboys this season.
Amidst struggles, the team’s defensive players reportedly had a private meeting between themselves last month. That same day, former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine was hired to assist Christian Parker.
Meanwhile, head coach Brian Schottenheimer has himself come under fire for his allegedly inept coaching. In fact, he was even asked before last Monday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles whether he was planning to cede offensive playcalling duties to Klayton Adams. He bluntly responded:
“No, absolutely not.”
Chris Simms gets candid on Cowboys starting anew in 2027
If the Cowboys’ performance under Brian Schottenheimer is any indication, one possible notion is that Jerry Jones is punting away this season to make a bigger impact in 2027. And on Monday’s episode of NBC’s “Pro Football Talk Live”, former NFL quarterback Chris Simms hinted at the franchise luring Mike Tomlin out of the booth to become the new head coach.
And should that happen, it could forebode bad things for Dak Prescott:
“For what they’re paying him, he’s not one of the top quarterbacks in football. … He doesn’t throw the ball to the level of some of the other top quarterbacks. And he doesn’t have a scrambling, running effect either. So I could see them having some misgivings about Dak Prescott and seeing where this year goes, and then maybe it’s time to do something.”
The Cowboys’ next game is against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, November 8. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. CT on Fox.
