Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal career flashback
It was back in 2003 that Ronaldo made his senior debut for Portugal. Still only 18 at the time, the forward burst onto the scene as an emerging talent from Sporting CP.
Soon after his move to Manchester United, the world started to take notice of the Portuguese talent. Ronaldo won the Premier League thrice, the Champions League, the Club World Cup and other domestic cups during his time at Old Trafford. He also won the 2008 Ballon d’Or before completing a blockbuster move to Real Madrid.
Ronaldo went toe-to-toe with Lionel Messi in Spain, thrilling fans with arguably the greatest rivalry between players in football. The Portugal icon also guided his nation to their first ever major trophy in 2016, when his team beat France in the final of the European championship. He won the Champions League three times in a row and added four more Ballon d’Or awards to his name during his time in Madrid.
The star striker’s career took him to Juventus, back to Manchester United and then to Al-Nassr. He also scored in six World Cups for Portugal, but that trophy still eluded him.
