The Golden State Warriors have recovered well after opening the season with three straight losses, putting together a six-game winning streak. Draymond Green, however, has had a much tougher time finding his rhythm.
Ahead of Golden State’s Thursday matchup with the Miami Heat, one stat in particular started making the rounds online. Through his first six games, Green had scored just 19 total points on 18 field goal attempts while also committing 19 turnovers and 17 fouls.

Those numbers quickly became a talking point among fans, with plenty of criticism aimed at Green for how little he had contributed statistically during the Warriors’ turnaround.
“time to hang it up and stop wasting Curry’s time,” @vincepeng88 said.
Draymond Green did respond with a much more impactful all-around performance in Golden State’s 120-100 win over Miami. He still scored only two points, but finished with a team high and season best 11 assists along with five rebounds and two combined steals and blocks.
However, his season averages of 3.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game remain his lowest since his rookie year.
Draymond Green gets lauded for defensive effort against Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Golden State Warriors flipped the game completely, turning an early 10-point deficit into a 20-point win. A big reason for that turnaround was Draymond Green’s work on Giannis Antetokounmpo, with the forward taking on the primary defensive assignment.
Green helped restrict Giannis to 20 points, his second-lowest scoring total of the season. For the same, head coach Steve Kerr lauded his veteran forward.
“I thought Draymond was brilliant guarding Giannis,” Kerr said during the postgame press conference. “We didn’t let Giannis get many buckets in the paint, which is the key. You want to build a wall in front of him. Make him score over the top, which he did in the first half, but you live with those buckets.”
