The Indian men’s cricket team will play its next T20I match on December 22, 2026, against Sri Lanka at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, according to ESPNcricinfo fixture data. The contest marks the opener of a three-match bilateral T20I series closing out India’s 2026 home international season.

The home series against Sri Lanka follows the conclusion of India’s tour of New Zealand. Ahead of the 20-over contests, both sides will compete in a three-match One-Day International series starting December 13 in Delhi. The action then transitions to the shortest format, with all T20I games scheduled under lights at 7:00 p.m. IST.

Following the opening clash in Rajkot on December 22, India faces Sri Lanka in the second T20I on December 24 at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The third and final T20I will take place on December 27 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

India holds a dominant historic edge over Sri Lanka in the format. In their previous bilateral T20I rubber in July 2024 in Pallekele, India completed a 3-0 series sweep under Suryakumar Yadav. That assignment concluded in dramatic fashion when India defended 137, forcing a Super Over in the final fixture before sealing victory.

India edge past New Zealand 3-2 in five-match series

India edged New Zealand 3-2 in a hard-fought five-match T20I series that concluded on November 1, 2026, at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

India opened the away series with back-to-back victories in Christchurch, clinching the first match by four wickets behind a half-century from Sanju Samson and an unbeaten 42 off 15 balls from Naman Dhir. The visitors doubled their lead on October 24 with another four-wicket triumph, anchored by Tilak Varma’s calculated middle-order rescue.

India secured the series in the third T20I in Wellington on October 27, chasing 199 in just 13.2 overs courtesy of Abhishek Sharma’s explosive batting display.

The Black Caps mounted a spirited late comeback. Glenn Phillips powered the hosts to an 87-run win in Auckland in the fourth match. In the series finale at Hamilton, Adam Milne’s four for 19 and Tim Seifert’s 93 powered New Zealand to a seven-wicket victory, restricting India’s winning margin to 3-2.
