Jason Kelce basically had the red carpet rolled out for him on Monday night.
Ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ game against the Dallas Cowboys that day, their former center received his own introduction on the Monday Night Countdown pre-game show, complete with pyrotechnics and confetti:
Thanks for the submission!

But while it was billed as a “hero’s welcome”, not everyone was pleased:

“Enough of shoving him down our throats,” one demanded.
“This Monday night countdown Pat McAfee-Jason Kelce segment with the jugs machine is absolutely embarrassing. ESPN is a JOKE,” another raged.
“What’s worse than Pat McAfee? Jason Kelce and Pat McAfee in the same place,” another concurred.
“I’m so glad I missed it,” one sighed.
“This is a mess and so annoying,” one groaned.
“Jason Kelce doesn’t need an intro in Philly. He needs security to get him out of the parking lot,” another threatened.
Speaking of the Eagles, things have not been going well. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the season because of blood clots, and his situation has attracted much criticism of the organization and especially its medical staff.
During last week’s episode of New Heights, Kelce weighed in on the situation:
“Listen, people just want answers because I think this is obviously a very serious situation. People want to know that Jalen Hurts received adequate and responsible medical advice and precautions.”
Jason Kelce shares thoughts on induction into college alma mater’s Athletics Hall of Fame
Before he became arguably the best center in Eagles history, Jason Kelce was an unassuming walk-on at the University of Cincinnati. After initially playing running back, he was moved to the offensive line and flourished, becoming a two-time All-Big East selection.
And last Friday, the school honored his achievements by inducting him into its Athletics Hall of Fame. When his time to speak came, he said:
“I wasn’t like the star player, I guess, when I was here. So probably most postgraduate accomplishments. But so, a little bit surprised.
“I don’t know what it takes to get into the UC Hall of Fame, but obviously, after that initial bit of surprise, just incredibly grateful and happy to join a group of people that have helped further the University of Cincinnati and helped put it on national stages, help the entire rest of the world see how great this place is.”
The Eagles-Cowboys game kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN.
