WNBA fans lost it online on Angel Reese ahead of Game 5 of the Finals between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries.
Reese is ready to bounce back after the Dream lost in Game 4 at home. Before Game 5, she entered Chase Center wearing a bold shirt that read “Protect Black Women.” She paired it with an orange bag, which Jordyn Woods called her “lucky bag.”
When Woods used the same bag for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, she said it brought good fortune to the New York Knicks. Karl-Anthony Towns, a star player for the Knicks, discussed it in an interview with W Magazine.
“It’s the luckiest bag in all of New York City,” he said. “It got the job done. Jordyn spent a lot of time on the bag. When you put so much love into something like that, you build some great karma.”
Now Reese wants the luck on her side, which is why she brought it to Game 5.
Fans reacted to Reese’s pregame fit ahead of the WNBA Finals.
“Dream finna blow the Valks out,” a fan said.
“Blackout Barbie,” another fan commented.
“She came basic tonight. Hopefully that means she ain’t with the B*,” one fan said.
More fans reacted to Angel Reese before the game.
“Is that Jordyn’s lucky bag?” someone commented.
“No dressing up tonight. Last series was a reminder this ain’t a fashion runway,” a comment read.
“I love this new Angel. No thirst traps, just all business,” one fan commented.
Angel Reese Praised By Ryan Ruocco
Angel Reese has been outstanding for the Dream in the Finals. Through four games, she’s averaging 18.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Defensively, Reese has averaged 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks.
WNBA broadcaster Ryan Ruocco praised the Dream star for staying composed with how the Valkyries force her to shoot 3-pointers. The former LSU star has never been the most reliable outside shooter. Golden State has used that to their advantage, leaving her open from the 3-point arc for difficult shots.
“Here’s a player who’s never been a three-point shooter, who really is just starting to try and add this to her game, and with the biggest stakes, with players playing eight feet off of her, daring her to shoot them, instead of getting in her head about it, she’s like, ‘Alright, watch me knock it down.'”
Ruocco praised Reese for being mentally strong during the Finals.
“That takes a really mentally strong player, and that’s just another example, I think, of how strong mentally Angel is.”
Reese has made three 3-pointers in the Finals, shooting 60.0%.
