This week’s episode of WWE NXT featured a huge championship match. Ek Prosper challenged The Vanity Project’s Jackson Drake for the North American Championship. In a shocking moment, five superstars were involved in the bout’s finish.
Jackson Drake, Ricky Smokes, and Brad Baylor were recently scheduled to face Ek Prosper, Mini Vikingo, and Chazz Hall in a six-man tag team match. However, the contest was called off after Vikingo was medically not cleared to compete. As a result, WWE NXT General Manager booked a North American Championship match between Drake and Prosper on tonight’s show.
Thanks for the submission!
Before the match, Kam Hendrix appeared in a vignette and delivered a fiery promo. He was displeased with Ek Prosper getting a shot at Jackson Drake’s North American Championship. Hendrix also claimed that Prosper was not an all-around athlete like him.
Jackson Drake and Ek Prosper engaged in a back-and-forth showdown on WWE NXT. Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes, and Myka Lockwood were at ringside to support their Vanity Project teammate. Prosper had the upper hand early in the contest, but Lockwood’s interference allowed Drake to gain momentum. The challenger almost reigned supreme after executing a Springboard Moonsault followed by a Tornado DDT.
Drake responded with a devastating Handspring Cutter, but failed to secure the pinfall. The North American Champion seemed frustrated with the referee’s count after Prosper refused to give up. In the final stages of the contest, Lockdown, Baylor, and Smokes interfered, distracting the referee.
Kam Hendrix capitalized on the opening and pushed Prosper off the middle rope. Drake ultimately hit his finisher on the 25-year-old fan-favorite superstar to retain his gold. The match’s finish saw five superstars gang up on Prosper, leading to his loss.
