Referee reveals how officials ordered them to snitch on WWE stars
Thanks for the submission!
Former WWE referee Mike Chioda revealed that the former executive and director of talent relations, John Laurinaitis, and Mark Carrano asked referees to monitor when referees got into the building and then tell on them for the ones who were late. They wanted referees to spy on and snitch on the wrestlers.
Chioda was not happy about it and told them that the officials were asking referees to jeopardize their relationship with the stars.
“When the office comes to a referee and says, ‘I want you to stooge the boys out, what time they get in.’ I was like, ‘You want the referees, the boys that put the money on the company’s table, the boys that put the money and the food on my table, you want me to stooge them out because they come in 30 minutes late?'”
He spoke about how the officials were asked to handle the dr*g testing of wrestlers as well and making sure that the tests were done and he spoke about why that was a bad idea as well.
“You want the referees to go get them for a drug test; the boys would be pissed to get away from me because, if they’re doing something they shouldn’t be doing, the last thing you want is referees going, ‘Hey, you got to take a drug test,’ and then following them around, ‘Hey, where you going?'”
A referee’s role in a match in WWE is extremely important, as they not only make calls during it, but also communicate between the performers and keep things in order. If that trust is broken, it leads to issues.
