An AEW Official’s daughter has finally made her WWE debut after wrestling only in dark matches for the better part of the year. She was responsible for a Top Champion’s shocking loss at NXT Halloween Havoc. The star in question is none other than Marie Malenko aka Kenzie, the daughter of Hall of Famer Dean Malenko.
Dean Malenko is known for his incredible matches in WWE, WCW and ECW. While he never became a World Champion, he is still regarded as one of the most gifted in-ring performers of all time. Following his in-ring retirement in 2001, he spent nearly 18 years with the Entertainment Juggernaut as a road agent. In 2019, he signed with All Elite Wrestling and continues to work there as a backstage producer.
Thanks for the submission!
It was reported in March this year that Marie Malenko had signed a contract with WWE after appearing for a tryout, a few weeks before that. Since then, she has wrestled some dark matches in NXT as Lacey Simon. However, her name was changed into Kenzie a few months ago. She made her NXT television debut at the recent Halloween Havoc PLE.
During the match between Zaria and Izzy Dame, Kenzie alongside several other individuals appeared in the crowd wearing the same dresses that Zaria wore in her childhood pictures. This caused a distraction that Izzy took advantage of, leading to her victory.
Fans are curious to see if Kenzie will now be associated with Izzy Dame moving forward.
WWE NXT has a lot of second and third-generation wrestlers
NXT has served as WWE’s developmental brand for nearly two decades now with a lot of top stars from the brand evolving into main eventers. The brand currently has a lot of stars coming from a lineage of professional wrestlers. The whole Birthright faction is a group of second and third-generation wrestlers on the brand.
On the other hand, stars like Zilla Fatu also come from the legendary Anoa’i family which has produced names like Roman Reigns and the Rock. Considering the success of second-generation stars in NXT, it is definitely a great place for Kenzie to kickstart her professional wrestling career.
It will be interesting to see what Shawn Michaels has planned for her.
